The Tacoma Dome:
A Landmark of Community, Creativity & Shared History

One of the most recognizable structures in Washington State, the Tacoma Dome sits just minutes from Pacific Ridge. It is one of the largest wooden domes in the world, built with over 1.6 million board feet of lumber, a 530-foot diameter, and a rich story of community pride.

The Dome is more than an event venue. It is a symbol of what Tacoma can accomplish when people unite around a shared purpose. Residents of Tacoma voted overwhelmingly to build “a dome of our own,” and thousands of citizens literally signed their names on its beams during construction. This spirit of collective effort and renewal echoes beautifully with the journey of recovery.

Fun & Inspirational Facts:

The Dome can host 1,000 to 21,000 guests, making it the largest indoor venue in Washington.

Over 323,000 nails were hand-driven into the wooden roof during construction.

Its aluminum super-grid spans 384' × 160', with over 47,000 feet of cable — a feat of incredible engineering.

In 2025–2026, an arts project will install public artwork that elevates the stories and Lushootseed language of the Puyallup Tribe, deepening the cultural significance of the site.

For Pacific Ridge residents, the Tacoma Dome is a reminder that setbacks do not define the future, and that transformation is possible through perseverance, vision, and community support.
